Hi! My name is Clarence! My 4 siblings and I were bottle raised in a home here in Westchester, NY but the family also had huskies who were not very fond of us. Sadly, the huskies killed 3 of my siblings, but me and my brother Coleman survived. Then my human family went through a divorce and ended up surrendering us to Animal Nation. My siblings and I were all born with a chronic health issue called CAE and sadly a couple of years ago my brother passed away due to complications with the virus. You’ll find me at the farm hanging out with Henry (pictured with me here!) as we peacefully graze!

Hi! My name is Henry! I lived in Maopac with 30 other sheep. We were all going to be used for either our wool, or for meat. My owner went away on vacation and coyotes broke into our barn and killed every single one of my friends. I was the only one who survived. I ran for my life. I had no other choice. The police were chasing me for nearly 8 miles but they never caught me. I ended up finding my way back home in Maopac - It was all I’ve ever known. Animal Nation was then called and they safely transported me back to their sanctuary. I quickly realized I was safe and made a quick turnaround. Now, I love my life so much!

Hi! I’m Billy! I successfully lived as a stray on the streets of Staten Island thanks to a kind neighbor who fed me peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and pretzels everyday when I’d come to visit her. And then one day a new neighbor moved in next-door and they did not like me. I was always kind and polite, so I’m not sure why. But they called the police, who called the ACC, but luckily before they were able to come capture me, Animal Nation showed up - right before the sun! - and threw me in the back of an SUV! For the last 6 years I’ve been enjoying my time at the farm with all my friends. My best friend, Nellie Rose unfortunately passed away earlier this year. I miss her so much :(

Hi! We’re Boots, Lilian, and Marcie! We are 3 of over 100 goats who were rescued from an animal neglect case in Redding, CT. Our living conditions were so horrible the media called it “The House of Horrors”. We came to Animal Nation as small babies and we immediately knew we were finally safe and loved. We also have a chronic health condition called CAE which required ongoing extensive medical support — but we are so happy and love our life!

Hi! My name is Luna! I’m well into my teenage years and came from a really scary neglect and cruelty case in Rockland County, NY. Animal Nation arrived after being called by the local police for assistance and they were kind enough to rescue me, my two friends, and nearly 70 birds. I’ve outlived my goat friends, but still recognize some of the chickens who went through the same horrors as I did. Truthfully, I haven’t really moved on from my traumatic past and I’m not as trusting as the other goats here. But that’s also why I love it here — they let me be me and respect my space.

Hi! I’m George! Just like Marcie, Lilian, and Boots, I originally came from “The House of Horror” neglect case, where I was left tied to a tree. Someone from Norwalk took me from that horrible situation, but unfortunately theirs wasn’t much better. Animal Nation was called, and finally - after two neglectful homes, I have all the freedom, food, and friends I could ask for. I am a volunteer favorite (shh don’t tell the others!) because of how affectionate and friendly I am. I am always ready for head scratches and even enjoy big hugs!

Hi! I’m Gia and this is my son Ari. I was originally from Wisconsin but sold to a live meat market in Staten Island, NY. But I was pregnant. I knew what our fate would be, and I just could not accept that for my baby. I had to try and get out. And so, I ran for it and successfully escaped the market! I was living on the streets of Staten Island, NY for a while, being tracked by Animal Nation. They set up feeding stations and they tried to plan my entrapment and transportation. I didn’t know they were trying to help, and I kept getting away from them. Then one day as I was exploring an old shipping container, the owner of the container closed me in to keep me contained! It was the middle of the night when Animal Nation got to the container and put me in their car! The next morning I woke up in a pretty nice looking barn with lots of hay! They still didn’t know I was pregnant, until a couple days later when the volunteers showed up for their shift and say Ari laying there with me :) It’s so rare that goats get to nurse and care for their own baby. I am so lucky. We are never far from each other, and Ari still calls out if I’m not in his line of vision…. Never underestimate the power and will of a Mom.
